My travels have taken me from being a music student in New York City (pictures)... (Here are some hilarious trumpet gaffes)... to Boise, Idaho as Principal Trumpet with the Boise Philharmonic...to Seattle where I first worked as a bike and ski mechanic for REI. We moved to Seattle primarily to climb mountains, but, over the years, I also put in appearances (on trumpet) with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and 5th Avenue and Paramount Theaters in Seattle. I worked for the REI Internet Department for a while then got into web progamming with drugstore.com. (This site represents my first feeble attempt at designing a website.) I quit playing a few years ago then quit the computer jobs and am currently studying to be a chef. No telling where the road will lead from here, but hopefully it will be as interesting as the 10+ years during which I couldn't get enough climbing.

While I've never had any desire to be a "professional" climber, I always had a strong desire to get up high. After some formal training, I gathered enough experience to lead glacier climbs of increasing difficulty. Even though most of our climbs have been routine, there have been moments of inevitable "excitement" as you will see if you investigate my site. I haven't been up in a while but hopefully this archive will give you some good beta if you're planning a volcano adventure.

Here is a video I made on building snow caves.

We bought a boat in '98 and have really racked up the hours. The long-range plan is to buy a sailboat one of these days and so some long distance stuff.
