The South Spur climb pictured here is a long, non-glacial slog. It would
make a nice ski descent in spring and it makes for a good training climb,
but lacks much interest as a climb in itself.

You slog for hours, aiming for the highest point you can see. When you
finally reach the crest, you find yourself on the South Summit. This photo
was taken from there as Monty
Nelson approaches the summit. The inset is an enlargement of Monty nearing
the summit to give you an idea of the scale.
