Mt. Rainier
Disappointment Cleaver

If you go up Rainier the "Regular Way"...The Disappointment Cleaver, you will ascend the Muir Snowfield relatively early on the first day. The view back towards Adams and St. Helens can be great. Ellie and I did this part of the climb very early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the heat. A view up the Ingrham Glacier from the top of the Disappointment Cleaver. This place can be a bottleneck if there are a lot of climbers.

A view from high up on the D.C. as the route heads over toward theEmmons Glacier. The D.C. itself is the large black mass of rock at the far left of the picture. The top of Gibralter Rock is in the middle. Mt. Adams is in the distance.
