Mt. St Helens

If you climb St. Helens, this is the view you will see from the parking lot, called Climbers Bivouac. While the standard Monitor Ridge climb isn't technical, it's a good idea to have an ice axe (and know how to use it for self arrest). A permit is also required during the spring and summer months.

After climbing for several hours in poor visibility, the clouds lifted when we were about a hundred feet from the summit. The highest point is the first wave in the crater rim in the background. On a different day, this is a view of the summit.
